QUESTIONS

What is the difference between pressure washing and soft washing?

Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to mechanically remove grime, mineral deposits and heavy soiling from hard surfaces. Soft washing uses low pressure combined with a biocide or detergent solution to kill and remove biological growth from softer surfaces. The right method depends on the surface type and contamination.

What surfaces can you pressure wash?

Concrete, brick, natural stone, pavers, metal, timber decking and most hard surfaces. Painted surfaces, render, heritage materials and roof tiles require soft washing rather than high-pressure treatment.

Is cleaning required before repainting?

Always. A contaminated or dirty surface will prevent paint adhesion and void most product warranties. Professional cleaning is a mandatory step in any quality painting programme — not optional.

Can you remove all stains?

Most staining caused by biological growth, pollution and general soiling can be fully removed with the correct method. Permanent staining caused by rust, mineral etching or chemical damage may not be fully reversible — we will advise during the assessment if this is likely.

How do you protect surrounding areas during cleaning?

We protect drains, landscaping, vehicles and adjacent surfaces before any work begins. Runoff is managed and contained where required. We take responsibility for the full work area, not just the surface being cleaned.

Will pressure washing damage my building?

In the wrong hands, yes. Incorrect PSI, the wrong nozzle or the wrong technique on painted, rendered or heritage surfaces causes permanent etching and surface damage. We assess every surface before selecting the method and settings — and we never apply pressure that the surface can't handle.

How long does the biocide treatment last after soft washing?

The residual biocide typically prevents biological regrowth for 1–3 years depending on the product used, the level of shade and moisture on the surface, and the local environment. Coastal and shaded surfaces will see regrowth sooner.

Do you clean at height?

Yes. We use rope access to clean building facades, roofs and high-level surfaces at any height — safely, without scaffolding and with minimal disruption to building operations.

Do you use chemicals?

Yes where appropriate. Soft washing uses diluted biocides and detergents selected for the specific contamination and surface type. All products are handled and applied safely in accordance with manufacturer specifications and site requirements.

What certifications do you hold?

Our team holds IRATA and SPRAT rope access qualifications, public liability and workers compensation insurance, First Aid, Police Checks, Working with Children, Height Safety System Installation and Testing, EWP over 11m, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Spaces, and Painting and Decorating trade qualifications. Every job is staffed with the right people for the scope of work.
